Spotlight: David Hodges

Artist • Producer • Motivational Speaker • Youth Worker • Entertainer • Community Leader

David Hodges is a respected hip hop producer and gifted MC active in the culture for nearly a decade, Hodges blends soul, funk, rock and gospel in a fashion that combines the best of their individual elements, as his insightful rap narratives compel the listener not only to live life, but to craft it as thoughtfully and carefully as he does his music.

The attention he has drawn by simply doing what he believes in has earned him opportunities unachievable through purely self-interested solicitation. His grind positions him justly as a go-to on the Canadian hip hop scene who is also recognized as a studio engineer, beat maker, community figure, event promoter and high school teacher.

David has a big heart for the youth. Every year, he tours over 20 schools and provides inspirational workshops that influence kids to keep in the right direction.

He continues to collaborate with Kids Help Phone on anti-bullying outreach projects, while promoting the message of ‘being honest’. Hodges exemplifies what it is to be a passionate performer and an honest man.

Hodges has shared the stage with many hip-hop legends such as Phife Dawg, Tech N9ne, Guru, Raekwon, Kardinal Official, De La Soul, Swollen Members, Master Ace, Shad K, K-Os, and more. He is currently backed by his band called “The Honest Family”, a collective of musicians and artists brought together through the love of music.

In 2012, Hodges worked with the QCGN to produce and tour with the song Notre Home – a bilingual anthem bridging the gap between Quebec’s French and English-speaking communities through hip hop.
