A Harmful Winter Tan – A message from Health Canada

Did you know?

Health Canada recommends you do not use tanning equipment (like sunlamps or tanning beds). Whether it is to help you spend the cold winter months, or to get a base tan before heading down south, you should think twice before using such devices.

Even though  a tan seems to look healthy, it is actually a sign that UV rays have already damaged your skin. UV rays from tanning lamps can have the same or worse health effects as UV from the sun such as increasing risk of skin cancer.
