At the beginning of the school year, we ventured to the Parc de la Gaspésie and the Bonaventure River.
At the Parc de la Gaspesie, we hiked up Mont Albert. Once at the top, the view was horrible due to the fog. After we ate lunch in a small cabin, the sky cleared and we admired a breathtaking view.
Once we returned to the base of the mountain, we hopped on the bus and continued onto Bonaventure where we met a group of secondary students from Alaqsite’w Gitpu School. We all spent the night in a wigwam village at Cime Aventure.
The next morning, we woke up early and spent two days paddling the beautiful Bonaventure River. The water was simply gorgeous; it was crystal clear and bright turquoise like in the tropics.
At the end of the trip, we got on the bus in Bonaventure and headed back to the school. All of us really enjoyed our trip because it was a real adventure, we got to socialize around the fire, we had the chance to spend time with our friends and teacher, secondary 1 and new students had the chance to get to know the older secondary students right at the beginning of the year.
We worked as a team, we saw caribou, it was a good experience to climb a mountain, we learned how to paddle a canoe through rapids, we improved our paddling skills, we got to sleep in tiny tents, we ate a lot of food, and it was just awesome!
