Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence publishes a Community Directory for the English-speaking population of the Lower St. Lawrence
This community directory has been made possible through funding from both the Community Health and Social Services Network (CHSSN) Access Initiative and the Lower St. Lawrence Health and Social Services Agency. The objective is to respond to the need for information and to help Anglophones access English-language health and social services in our region.
Please note that the directory does not constitute a recommendation, but provides information only. To the best of our knowledge, the information contained in this directory was accurate at the time of publication.
Please contact Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence if you cannot find what you need, if you think something should be added, or if you feel some information is inaccurate.
This directory is a work in progress. While many organizations are not ‘required’ to provide services in English, most groups are more than willing to accommodate requests for English, whenever possible. However, should you encounter any difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence for assistance.
The Lower St. Lawrence region is a vast territory and the task of bringing together the scattered and diverse English-speaking population of just over 1200 is challenging. We provide outreach initiatives throughout the entire region by way of our newsletter, web site and a permanent resource centre based in Métis-sur-Mer.
We divided the directory into eight geographical regions, known as RCMs (Regional County Municipalities), more commonly known in French as MRCs: Matane, La Mitis, Matapédia, Rimouski-Neigette, Les Basques, Rivière-du-Loup, Kamouraska, and Témiscouata. The directory begins with Rimouski-Neigette followed by La Mitis given that these two regions have the most Anglophones compared to the other region.
We have attempted to provide accurate information available. Once again, if you are aware of a number, a web site or an e-mail address that has been changed or that should be added, please contact us. This directory belongs to the community so everyone is welcome to contribute. It’s a community affair!
