M\u00e9tis and Les Boules have always shared a close connection. After nearly two centuries of harmonious cohabitation, the two municipalities merged in 2002. The former territory of Metis Beach became the MacNider Borough, preserving its bilingual status, while the former municipality of Les Boules became Secteur Les Boules (rue Principale). Together, they form the present-day M\u00e9tis-sur-Mer. 3.5 km (MacNider Road to Castonguay Road) 60 stops<\/strong>

(En)<\/strong> Much of Beach Road was known as \u2018McGill College Avenue\u2019, and this particular section of road was nicknamed \u2018Professors Row\u2019 because so many McGill professors and others with McGill links had residences here, including professors Bovey, Darey, Dawson, and Harrington. All summer Metisites are aware of the wonderful fresh air at Metis and there has been a rumour that this is what attracted William Dawson. This was important to him, but his real interests were geology and

(Fr)<\/strong> \u00c0 la fin du mois de juillet 1930, le dirigeable R100 a quitt\u00e9 l\u2019Angleterre et s\u2019est dirig\u00e9 vers Montr\u00e9al. Son itin\u00e9raire longeait le fleuve Saint-Laurent, ce qui a suscit\u00e9 beaucoup d\u2019\u00e9motion sur les rives. Quelques r\u00e9sidents de M\u00e9tis ont r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 prendre une photo de son passage. Le voyage historique a dur\u00e9 pr\u00e8s de 80 heures, et le ballon, qui se d\u00e9pla\u00e7ait \u00e0 une vitesse moyenne de 68 km\/h, est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al devant une foule immense – certains parlent de plus d\u2019un million de personnes.<\/p>\n

(En)<\/strong> At the end of July 1930, the R100 airship left England, heading for Montreal. Its route took it along the St. Lawrence River, causing much excitement for those on the banks of the river with a few Metis residents managing to snap a picture as the R100 floated by. The historic journey
\ntook almost 80 hours at an average speed of 68 km\/h, arriving in Montreal to a huge crowd \u2013 some say more than a million strong.<\/p>\n

At one time, before the gulls took over, people rowed out to Boule Rock to picnic as well as play games.
