La Pointe-Leggatt est \u00e0 cheval sur Grand-M\u00e9tis et M\u00e9tis-sur-Mer, c\u2019est pourquoi la petite route change de nom \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9glise. La pointe a \u00e9t\u00e9 un p\u00f4le important pour la communaut\u00e9 \u00e9cossaise d\u00e8s leur arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de 1818. Elle repr\u00e9sente toujours un danger pour la navigation comme en t\u00e9moigne le cimeti\u00e8re et le nom donn\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019Anse-des-Morts. D\u2019autres lieux d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat sont accessibles le long de la route (voir la carte). 3 km, entre les arr\u00eats 4 et 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leggatt\u2019s Point straddles Grand-M\u00e9tis and M\u00e9tis-sur-Mer, which is why the small road changes name at the church. The point has been an important centre for the Scottish community since their arrival in 1818. The St. Lawrence River at Leggatt\u2019s Point is still a danger to shipping, as evidenced by the cemetery and the name given to Anse-des-Morts (translates loosely to \u201cCove of the Dead\u201d in English). Other places of interest are accessible in the area (see map). 3 km, from stops 4-17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Fr)<\/strong> Si la construction de l\u2019\u00e9glise de l\u2019Eglise unie de M\u00e9tis-sur-Mer (parcours de M\u00e9tis Ouest) a en partie motiv\u00e9 l\u2019agrandissement de l\u2019\u00e9glise presbyt\u00e9rienne de Pointe-Leggatt, afin de lui faire concurrence, ces deux \u00c9glises ont partag\u00e9 leurs pasteurs pendant plus de 60 ans, et les deux congr\u00e9gations alternent les lieux de culte en hiver. De plus, des pasteurs presbyt\u00e9riens ont \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 le presbyt\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9glise unie. Vous pouvez \u00e9couter le son des cloches des deux \u00e9glises ici, que les fid\u00e8les de longue date George Craig (\u00e9glise presbyt\u00e9rienne de Pointe-Leggatt) et Bill Pearce (\u00e9glise unie de M\u00e9tis-sur-Mer) font sonner.<\/p>\n

(En)<\/strong> While the competitive spur for the expanded Leggatt\u2019s Point Presbyterian Church (LPPC) may in part have been the building of what is now the Metis Beach United Church (MBUC) (Metis West Trail), these two churches have shared ministers for over 60 years, with the two congregations alternating service locations in winter. Presbyterian ministers haved also used the United Church manse. You can listen to the bells of the two churches here rung by long-term congregants George Craig (LPPC) and Bill Pearce (MBUC).<\/p>\n
