This call for submissions is part of the Art of Resilience Project, funded by Canadian Heritage, with the objective to enhance the vitality of the English-speaking community of the Lower Saint Lawrence region. This 2022 call for submissions is open to English-speaking Quebec artists in various artistic disciplines from outside the Lower Saint Lawrence region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What we are looking for<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One (1) artist available for a three- (3-) week community-engaged artist residency: 30 April to 21 May 2022. The artist will engage with the community members in the region in interactive workshops. The residency will culminate with a public presentation of the community-engaged work of art and the process of creation. These interactions will be held in accordance with the health measures imposed by government authorities at the time of their residency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What we offer to the artist<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accommodation for 3 weeks at 3 locations\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One week at Bic Domaine Floravie<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One week at Lighthouse Keepers\u2019 house at Metis Lighthouse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One week at Maison d\u2019Ariane, owned by the International Garden Festival<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel expenses \u2013 up to $400<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artist\u00a0fees for the entire project \u2013 $4,500\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Living expenses for 3 weeks \u2013 $1,050<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Material needed for production or workshops \u2013 up to $1,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important considerations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following are important considerations for the project:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The artist is able to work with community participants of all ages (including vulnerable seniors and youth in school).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The artist is able to add value and\/or share skills\/knowledge with the community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The residency will culminate with a public presentation of the community-engaged work of art and the process of creation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The process needs to take into account the constraints of public health guidelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What we expect from the artist<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be present during the entire duration of the residency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be autonomous and carry out the residency in accordance with the agreement between the artist and HLSL.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consult project key stakeholders in the conception and preparation phase.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work with HLSL team on the communications and publicity related to the project\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share the fruit of the creative residency during at least one meeting or event with the public, at designated location(s) agreed with HLSL.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be responsible for the preparation of meals, and respecting the rules, health guidelines and special considerations of the accommodation provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be autonomous in travel and in getting around.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No smoking and no animals are permitted in the accommodation provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence (HLSL) mobilizes people and resources to support the vitality of the English-speaking community of the region, foster the well-being of all its members, and promote its interests.
