CALL FOR CANDIDATES: HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES BURSARIES
To support the retention or return of bilingual health and social services professionals in our region, Heritage Lower St. Lawrence, in collaboration with McGill University, is launching a call for applications from students who will pursue full-time studies in a health or social services related field during the 2017-2018 academic year. Candidates must be able to offer services in English and French, and must demonstrate that they like to get involved. Bursaries are given out to students on the basis of field of study, involvement, and their language skills. There is no age limit to apply, and one does not have to have the best grade point average! We support bilingual community leaders and go-getters who can be studying in a wide variety of programs!
There are two (2) different bursary categories:
Category 1: For bilingual full-time students registered in recognized educational institutions located OUTSIDE Bas-St-Laurent, to encourage them to return to work and live here after they complete their studies. The value of each individual bursary depends on the level of study: university 10,000$, cegep 5,000$, secondary school vocational training 5,000$.
Category 2: For bilingual full-time students registered in recognized educational institutions located WITHIN Bas-St-Laurent, to encourage them to work and live here after they complete their studies. The value of each individual bursary depends on the level of study: university 5,000$, cegep 2,500$, secondary school vocational training 2,500$.
The bursary application form is available at the Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence office, via email through Heritage and, on the McGill Retention Project website https://www.mcgill.ca/hssaccess/forms. A form must be completed by each student candidate and by two references who will attest his/her leadership.
The deadline to submit all applications is Friday, May 19 2017, at 4:30 p.m. and it is possible to request help filling out the paperwork!
