we believe in reading

Heritage Lower Saint-Lawrence is proud to provide two resource centres, one of which houses a bilingual public library in Métis-sur-Mer, and the other offers English-language books in Rimouski.

Both of our libraries are part of Réseau BIBLIO du Bas-Saint-Laurent and home to a wide variety of books for adults, teens, and young ones. There is no fee to become a member.

Library on Wheels Program

HLSL offers a library-on-wheels service in partnering with community organizations (daycares and schools) to facilitate access to books and supporting literacy activities for an early childhood clientèle to youth up to 17 years of age. Books are selected and provided to partners on a rotating basis.

Our libraries partner with four municipal libraries located in the lower Saint-Lawrence area: Bibliothèque Jean-Louis Desrosiers of Mont-Joli (click on Collection Santé-Anglais), Bibliothèque municipale Fonds de solidarité FTQ of Matane, Bibliothèque Madeleine-Gagnon of Amqui and Bibliothèque Françoise-Bédard of Rivière-du-Loup municipal libraries in facilitating access to English books on a rotation basis every six months.

Some one hundred titles from our local collection, ranging from novels, young adult fiction, biographies, health resources and other non-fiction, are accessible for loan at these libraries.

Our Collections

While the Métis-sur-Mer library offers you a wide collection of bilingual titles, the Rimouski location focuses and specializes in facilitating access to titles in English.  From fiction (drama, adventure, fantasy, poetry, etc.)  to non-fiction (health & fitness, biography, travel, etc),  we strive to offer interesting books for all our members.

Being a member of our libraries gives you access to:
