Les Jardins de Métis (Reford Gardens) is hosting two evening performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Sunday, July 7 and Monday, July 8 by Shakespeare in the Park.
The 7 p.m. performances will be held in the historic surroundings of Estevan Lodge, the 125 year-old fishing camp built by Sir George Stephen that was recently designated a historic monument by the government of Québec. The lawns and forest will become the magical setting for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, one of Shakespeare’s most accessible and popular plays. Shakespeare in the Park (SITP) has been charming audiences for twenty-five years with outdoor performances of Shakespeare’s plays that attract audiences of more than 10,000 every summer. This is the first time the gardens have hosted live outdoor theatre.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students and, in keeping with the gardens practice of encouraging visits by children and families, children 13 and under are admitted free of charge. Tickets are available from the ticket booth at Les Jardins de Métis (open every day from 8.30 am to 6 pm) or by calling (418) 775-2221, x 222.
The performance at Les Jardins de Métis is sponsored by MacDougall, MacDougall and MacTier. The 2013 tournée of Repercussion Theatre’s Shakespeare-in-the-Park (SITP) tour is funded by the Conseil des arts de Montréal. The performance at Les Jardins de Métis is the first in a series of performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream that will be presented in various Montreal and surrounding-area parks, Hemmingford, Morin Heights and Douglass Beach in Knowlton.
