Employment & Volunteering

SUpporting Employability in the Lower Saint Lawrence (LSL) region

We are a source of support for those seeking job-market integration, whether they be in the Anglophone community or not. We build bridges for all who come to us for support.

supporting employability through a variety of approaches:

  • Referrals and partnerships: We collaborate with organizations and institutions to connect English speakers with services available in English — for example, La Sphère, which offers support with CV writing, job searches, and interview preparation.
  • Mentorship and networking programs: Through initiatives like the PERT Circonflexe program, we promote professional and social development for English speakers in the region. The program pairs francophone mentors and English-speaking mentees from similar regions and professional backgrounds, creating a bilingual and inclusive space for growth through coaching sessions and community events. (The next series of events will take place from November to January, across three sites.)
  • Professional training: While our McGill English courses for health professionals are designed primarily to support employability for francophone service providers, they also contribute indirectly to employability by improving access to English-language services.
  • Volunteer engagement: Our volunteer program provides English speakers with opportunities to gain experience, contribute to their community, and build transferable skills.
  • Employment and service contracts: We create local employment opportunities within our organization and contract professional services in the region whenever possible.

We aim to achieve the following objectives:

  • Establish Heritage as a hub and incubator for social economies.
  • Enhance the sustainability of the English-speaking community (ESC) through support for social economy projects.
  • Attract and retain English speakers to the LSL region.
  • Access new funding opportunities and secure seed money.
  • Expand organizational services for the ESC through partnerships with organizations such as SOPER, Économie Sociale BSL, CDRQ, CLD, Investissement QC, RISQ, MRC, SADC, BDC, SEEnet, Metis Lab etc.
