Learn how to give voice to a significant character from your personal history
This six-session online workshop series is open for residents of the Lower St Lawrence aged 18+. Facilitated in English by artist and teacher Janet Madelle Feindel, it offers participants a chance to creatively explore the untold story of a significant character from their personal history. Writing and performance techniques will be taught in order for participants to develop a 3 – 4 minute piece conveying their personal story. The project will culminate in a collective in-person presentation in Lower Saint Lawrence in Spring 2026.

Testimonials from participants for Series 1:
‘I have come away from the Living Voices workshops with a piece of tremendous personal value. The 12-week format enhanced the creative process which gave me time to adapt and shape my piece until it grew beyond what I had initially anticipated.’
‘I had no theatre experience and at first I didn’t quite understand where we were heading, though I enjoyed the little writing, body, and voice exercises. Now it’s all making sense. With Janet’s structure and thoughtful feedback, it’s exciting to see my spontaneous writing develop into a theatre piece.’
‘I’ve found Living Voices a welcome stretch into expanding writing into voice and performance. My sense of place in Bas St. Laurent is strong; I’ve appreciated the opportunity to expand it even more, with Janet’s encouraging teaching.’
