HLSL successfully concluded its 22nd annual meeting on Thursday June 15th with more than 30 people in a hybrid format. This year marked a significant milestone as HLSL in its effort to expand as a regional organisation, held the event at the Resource Centre in Rimouski, a change in venue that brought fresh energy including the election of a new board member from Riviere-du-Loup, Antoine Beaulieu. Several officials in attendance included Rimouski Mayor Guy Caron, Lisa Shortt from the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise (SRQEA). Ms. Shortt went the few extra kilometers traveling to Metis to meet with members of the Heritage to gain further insights into HLSL’s ongoing projects. Others in attendance: CMetis president Philippe Dufort, Executive Director Kathy Brown from the Regional Development Network (RDN) and her colleague Manager of Regional Development, Helena Burke, (from the Magdalen Islands). Their presence reaffirmed the collaborative efforts to drive positive change within the Lower Saint Lawrence region.
Other highlights? A fond farewell to HLSL former Executive Director, Philippe Dufort. While it leaves a void, Philippe is now an official partner of HLSL with his social economy projects via CMētis. The annual meeting was successful and saw a handing of the torch to new Executive Director, Susan Woodfine.
