Remembrance in Metis-sur-Mer 2025

Over 100 people in attendance as HLSL marked Remembrance Day in the village of Métis-sur-Mer

The event would not have been possible without the support of volunteer community members, Metis Beach School students and staff. We were proud to organize both the Official Remembrance Day ceremony at Notre-Dame-de-la-Compassion Church, and the half-masting of the flags at the municipal offices (in front of the Remembrance monument from the HLSL Live Our Heritage project) where a new garden of ceramic poppies has sprung up! These lively additions were created by the secondary 1 & 2 students in Ms Lynn Fournier’s art class, along with volunteer Laila Bernard. Some were given to veterans as a thank you gift for their sacrifice at the private luncheon for veterans and their families, held after the ceremony.
