Suzanne Ives

Meet our newest board member! We’re thrilled Suzanne’s joined the team as a member of our English speaking community in Rimouski. She brings a wealth of personal experience as a newcomer and mom of two busy young children, not to mention her accomplished background from the world of accounting and international leadership.

Where are you from? Where is home for you? I’m from Norwich, UK.

Did you know about poutine before you arrived? Best place to get it if you do know? Like many things Quebecois I was clueless before I arrived in the region….although it does has a distinct reminiscence of the chips, cheese and gravy that I used to order in the high school canteen many moons ago.

What is your favourite place in the Lower Saint Lawrence, and why? I have been, and continue to be stunned by the wilderness and beauty of the landscape here. One solid favourite is cycling the petit t’émis with the children, camping and waking up with a view of the mist over Temiscouata lake.

Your favourite pastime? Anything we can do as a family outdoors, cycling, camping, skiing… I also have a few side hobbies like pottery and knitting and I am always keen to be involved in new projects.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? At this time of year it would be a pub lunch… the traditional Sunday roast and a beach walk with my family.

What talent would you most like to have? To be musically gifted, I had flirtings with a clarinet when I was younger and have recently tried guitar but it isn’t something that comes naturally… I dream of impressing people with a musical solo some day!

What is your greatest achievement? I used to say that I was proud of becoming a director by the age of 30, but then having children redefined my view of success.

What is your motto? Need or want?

Biggest regret? I can be known to speak without thinking, so probably something that I said…
