National Volunteer Week April 24-30, 2022

Volunteering is described as an unpaid activity where someone gives their time to do a particular task or job that is not required nor an obligation nor being forced to do it. Unpaid volunteers are often the glue that holds a community together and allows connection to the community.  This connection also enables individuals to help others in a selfless way especially for not-for-profit organizations that we recognize today.

The community life is very dynamic in Métis-sur-Mer and Rimouski. Many local committees and organizations greatly contribute to the vitality of our communities, and the communities have relied on volunteers from the time when the early settlers came to live here.

The Heritage team would like to thank all our extraordinary volunteers, past and present, for making a difference in the lives of others. Even though you’re not in the spotlight, you are all the backbone of each and every event we do and have done. Please know that we could not have done this without your hard work. You have all made an unforgettable difference.

We are forever thankful for all the immeasurably valuable time that our volunteers have given us in our many departments; the two libraries, exhibitions, Virtual Tea-time, Heritage Game Night, Live our Heritage, and Info-Metis. Our team would also like to thank the Board members for agreeing to serve in this capacity and who are the lifeblood of our organization. Your commitment has made a difference to us.
