HLSL participates in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN)

HLSL Executive Director, Susan Woodfine, recently attended the QCGN conference in June. The conference, spanning two days, showcased ten Community Innovation Fund projects, including a highly successful Tourism Development program implemented by our neighboring organisation, Committee for Anglophone Social Action (CASA).

One of the highlights of the conference was an engaging roundtable discussion on Quebec’s Bill 96, which introduces amendments to the Charter of the French Language and incorporates the pre-emptive use of the Notwithstanding Clause. This bill has also been integrated into Bill C-13, the revised federal Official Languages Act, a significant development discussed by renowned constitutional lawyer, Julius Grey.

Attending this conference allows HLSL to establish connections and gain insights into the issues that directly impact English-speaking Quebecers throughout the province. It provided an excellent platform for networking and staying informed about matters of concern to our community.
