A “Vessel of Hope” to celebrate a community’s resilience through art
Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence (HLSL) is pleased to inaugurate the collective container mural “Vessel of Hope” at Metis Beach school, a public work of art that celebrates the resilience of our community. With a grant from Canadian Heritage and contributions from its partners, this project took place between April and October 2021, with several community workshops involving many volunteers and participants.
“The circular paintings that are glued to the container show the strength and the resilience of our community in these troubled times,” says artist Lynn Fournier. “Our hope is to create a community art project that addresses the social and psychological issues raised by the pandemic in order to generate hope in our beautiful community,” says artist Karine Berthelette.
