Cyber Seniors FREE webinars

Cyber-Seniors have put together these great tech-training webinars. Whether you are a senior wanting to learn how to keep in touch using modern day technology in this time of social distancing or you are a young person looking to give back by becoming a Volunteer Tech Mentor. We thought it would be a good idea to share their tech-training webinars just in case anyone in our community would be interested. They have now added French and Spanish webinars to their program. Cybersecurity Webinar: Scareware

Monday, Oct 19, 12:00 pm Eastern Time Register

Has this ever happened to you? You’re browsing online when a pop-up ad

appears on your screen warning you that your computer is infected with dozens of viruses. The ad conveniently says that you can remove all of these viruses by buying antivirus software that will immediately eliminate them.

If you’ve seen this, you’ve been hit with a scareware attack. Scareware is a scam where cybercriminals attempt to gain access to your credit card information, and often your computer by tricking you into buying fake antivirus software.

This Webinar will teach you how to identify scareware attacks and show you how to help you avoid those pesky pop-up advertisements.

Community Chat

Tuesday, Oct 20, 1:00 pm Eastern Time Register

At Cyber-Seniors our focus has always been to decrease social isolation and close the generation gap. No matter your age or situation, this can be an increasingly lonely time. So let’s all get together and talk about what’s keeping us happy right now! We will be doing a weekly chat where everyone is welcome to share what they are doing to stay positive during this time.

  • Tell us an inspiring story you’ve recently heard.
  • What you’re doing to stay active while staying at home?

Seniors’ Exercise Class with RC Fitnez Studio

Zumba Gold is a lower-intensity version of the typical Zumba class and is designed to provide a suitable option for older adults seeking alternative means of reaching their exercise goals.  Zumba Gold builds cardiovascular health by challenging the heart and working the muscles of the hips, legs and arms with dance moves. Zumba Gold is designed to be approachable by all populations, regardless of fitness levels and can be done sitting or standing.

To all retirement and nursing home staff and caregivers:

We know that this is a challenging time, so attached here is a flyer with all the information seniors need to take advantage of this service. Consider emailing it or printing it and slipping it under your residents’ doors so they are aware of how to access this service.

Young People can take the Mentor Training Program and sign-up to volunteer as tech mentors by visiting our website.

Together we will make a difference in bridging the digital divide and helping seniors be more connected.
