Music Therapy: Music for the Mind, Body, and Soul

This presentation will cover a brief introduction to what music therapy is, who it serves, along with
the ways music impacts neurological, cognitive, emotional, mental, and physical health. Additionally,
it will include brief experientials for the participants involving inclusive music-making opportunities.
Objectives
1. To inform participants on how music therapy may serve them and/or people they know.
2. To provide a brief encounter with how music therapists use music within sessions to promote
health and wellbeing.
About Your Presenter
Victoria McNeill (Mmus, MTA) is an accredited music therapist who works at The Cummings Centre
offering therapeutic music programming and music therapy sessions to adults with and without
health complications. Victoria works to empower people to embrace their musical potential for
health and well-being through active engagement in musical processes including receptive and active
musical engagement.
