Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence (HLSL) is a not-for-profit organization whose primary role is to provide services to the English-speaking communities of the Lower St. Lawrence (LSL). HLSL serves the 1,468 English-speaking residents in the region. With offices in Métis-sur-Mer and Rimouski, the organization participates actively in community development and partners with local institutions and organizations in educational initiatives, health and social services, youth projects, community events and cultural activities. We are looking for a dynamic and multitasking individual to collaborate with Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence’s Assistant Director – Health & Social Services to maintain and develop Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence’s Health & Social Services Networking and Partnership Initiative (NPI), as well as performing tasks related to community support and development to facilitate access to services in English for the Official Language Minority Communities (OLMCs) of the Lower Saint Lawrence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordonate & implement the HLSL-NPI annual action plan in collaboration with the Assistant Director – Health and Social Services;
- Representation on roundtables, steering committees and other decisional bodies to raise awareness of priority issues pertaining to access to services in English for the official language minority communities of the LSL;
- Initiate and maintain partnerships on the local, municipal, MRC, and provincial level to facilitate access to health and social services in English for the OLMCs of the LSL
- Coordinate the distribution of health and social services information in English to the OLMCs of the LSL;
- Assist the organization’s social development agents in the coordination and delivery of targeted H&SS initiatives as needed (children, youth, families & seniors, mental health, etc.);
- Participate in the collection of statistics and preparation of reports in accordance with funding agreements;
- Participate in online and in-person team meetings, organize and lead project meetings;
- Occasionally be available for meetings, activities and training sessions taking place outside of Métis-sur-Mer, and/or outside of regular office hours, be available to assist fellow team members in other sectors of operations with their related activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Preferably college diploma or bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, but candidates with other degrees or pertinent experience in other fields will be considered;
- Bilingual (English & French), excellent oral and written skills;
- Experience in human resources and project management;
- Comfortable using Google Suite Apps, MS Office suite, video-conferencing tools;
- Team player, diplomatic, self-starter, good organisational, interpersonal & problem solving skills;
- Knowledge of minority linguistic community dynamics and government programs (an asset);
- Driver’s license.
